- The goal of B2B is a fully-built, high quality trail, winding 370 km from the Whiteshell Provincial Park to Grand Beach Provincial Park. Volunteers have been fund-raising, building and maintaining remarkable individual segments of this route. The development of this trail infrastructure will also enable travellers to immerse themselves in an experience along the trail that will lengthen their stay and widen their exposure to eastern Manitoba.
- B2B is a project that encourages healthy active living, links communities, supports education, tourism and commerce, and promotes the social and economic development of local areas. Once complete, the trail will not only be a great recreation asset for Manitoba it will be a model for trail development throughout the rest of the province; a model for collaborative effort between TCT, provincial trails organizations and government, and an icon for the tourist industry.
- The project enhances existing MRTA funding programs by addressing barriers not necessarily included in the normal granting processes. It focuses efforts on finding regional and site-specific solutions for trail building challenges.
- B2B is a pilot project, for Manitoba and for the Trans Canada Trail across Canada. Manitoba is a leader with this trail completion initiative, which will establish a model of trail development throughout Canada. The approaches and solutions learned in this project will assist other large segments of trail to be completed.
The MRTA, governed by a volunteer board, is the official body overseeing the coordination of the building of the TCT in the province. It is a governing and overseeing body providing management and direction for trail development being undertaken by 18 regional trail associations. Together with their partners, the MRTA launched this project in June, 2009.
